Nordic Dreams 1 & 2
These two monotypes are inspired by the winter skies over the farmed landscapes of Skåne in southern Sweden, moments where light stretches low across the horizon and colour lingers in the cold air. Each piece is a unique, one-of-a-kind monotype. Layers of water based intaglio ink are rolled and painted onto a plexiglas plate, then selectively lifted, wiped, and reworked using a variety of tools and materials. This intuitive process of applying and removing ink allows the image to emerge gradually, soft transitions, atmospheric depth, and subtle textures forming through touch and timing. Certain elements are carefully hand-painted onto the plate to retain clarity and structure, before dampened paper is laid on top and run through an etching press. The image is transferred in reverse, and only a single impression is taken, making each print entirely unrepeatable. The monotype process holds a sense of openness and unpredictability, where control and chance meet. It is this balance that gives each work its quiet, luminous presence. Materials Water based intaglio inks, plexiglas plate, brayers, brushes, 250gsm Fabriano printmaking paper (acid-free), etching press. Please note: this is an original hand-pulled print, not a digital reproduction, and may show subtle marks of the making process. Purchase of the artwork does not transfer copyright; the artist retains the right to reproduce the image.
